Brief synopsis in English:

SELF-EXILE

Giavropoulos in this video beautifully connects self-exile with suicide like a conscious act of transition from existence to non-existence.

He considers death as an act of reversal suicide or reversal self-exile to life, (birth).

Without over dramatizing on the subject and with indolent almost “lazy” way he dichotomizes his digital canvas horizontally, presenting life or existence on the upper part of the screen and death or non-existence on the half under.

On the first upper part (life), the figures seem disorientated holding objects that refer to traveling. On the other half below where death dominates the figures are continuing to seem disorientated and still carrying their travelers accessories but they are obviously “naked’ from the characteristics that defying their social status and role.

On both life and death sequences we see images that define accordingly the life and the non-life states, for example the female naked woman who pours milk on the earth, a ceremonial act, which in ancient Greece was often performed from the living (people in life) like an act of love for the dead, (hoy).

When on half under part of the projection we see a male naked image of a man with the dog that symbolizes the ancient Greek god of the under world Ades with his guardian dog Kerveros.
