Brief synopsis in English: Papoutsi is an experimental film. It was shot by three people and at three different locations but in the same cultural zone: Cyprus and Greece. The film examines the feeling of homesickness experienced by immigrants: No matter where you are in the world you always crave to return home (in this case Greece and Cyprus) and even though home may have fallen apart it still remains the place where one can be his/her true self. Title was taken from a greek proverb (“papoutsi apo ton topo sou kai as einai mpalomeno”), that more or less means that it is far better to choose something from where you are coming from even if it is broken or poorly fixed! Papoutsi captures the feeling of an immigrant missing home, but is also influenced by the specific situations that characterize Greece and Cyprus during 2013 (Mediterranean crisis, European financial crisis, social disintegration etc).
